Sometimes Your Business Needs a Reset. Sometimes You Do.
By Tina Zawila
Running a business requires constant attention. There is always another client to help, team member to support, decision to make, opportunity to pursue or problem to solve.
Recently, I returned from a personal retreat. It wasn't a holiday filled with sightseeing or a packed schedule. Instead, it was simply an opportunity to step back, reflect, recharge and gain some perspective.
It reminded me that one of the most valuable things a business owner can do is create space to think.
Many of us spend so much time working in our businesses that we rarely pause to work on them. Yet some of the best opportunities for growth come when we stop long enough to review where we are, where we are headed and what really matters.
As we approach the final quarter of the year, it can be worthwhile asking a few simple questions:
- What is working well that I should continue?
- What activities are creating the most value?
- What can I simplify, delegate or stop doing?
- What should I focus on over the next 90 days?
The most effective business owners I know regularly build time into their schedule to reflect, refocus and reset. They review their numbers, reconnect with their goals and create a clear plan for the period ahead.
Importantly, they recognise that business performance is closely linked to personal capacity. When we create space to think, learn and recharge, we often return with fresh ideas, greater clarity and renewed energy for the opportunities ahead.
A reset is not about fixing a failing business. Often it is about helping a good business become an even better one.
As we approach the end of 2026, now may be the perfect time to step back and ask what one change could have the biggest impact on your business over the next 90 days.
