Bringing Global Ideas Home - Insights from the World Business Forum, New York

Last week, we, the Directors of UHY Haines Norton CQ, had the privilege of attending the World Business Forum in New York, hosted by WOBI – an event that brings together some of the world’s most influential thinkers and leaders in business. Over two inspiring days, global experts shared powerful insights on AI, strategy, innovation and culture –topics shaping the future of every organisation, large or small.

As an accountant and business advisor, attending was about more than professional development. It was about ensuring that as a regional Australian firm, we continue to bring world-class thinking back to our clients and communities. Making the commitment and investment to attend events like this allows us to stay at the forefront of change and translate global ideas into practical insights for local businesses.

Hearing from thought leaders such as Adam Grant, James Clear, Seth Godin and Brene Brown (to name a few) reinforced how rapidly the world of business is changing. The discussions around AI were especially interesting, with the focus on how we can humanise AI and how to leverage automation, as well as the impact of AI on the Global financial markets. On Strategy, speakers emphasised agility — the need to plan for uncertainty while staying anchored to purpose. Innovation was framed not just as technology, but as a mindset of experimentation and creativity. And in a world of constant change, culture remains the ultimate differentiator: organisations that foster trust, curiosity and adaptability will thrive.

The World Business Forum was a powerful reminder that ideas have no borders. Whether you’re running a small regional enterprise or a multinational, success depends on curiosity, courage and continual reinvention. We return inspired, with fresh ideas to help our clients embrace change and shape the future with purpose.
